AN end-can should be simple and painless to fit. The cans were fitted by tuning experts Performoto, with detailed notes made on each one. Cans with brackets that didn't line up correctly, or needed forcing into position, were marked down.

The most common fitting problem was mounting holes not lining up with the originals

Brackets that were welded or bolted to the pipe allow less room for error, The more blobs, the easier it was to fit.

TO see which end-cans had the best finish and would last, we exposed them to recreated winter conditions.

Each was placed in front of an industrial heater until roasting hot - so road salt baked on like it would on the road. The salt was then liberally applied at regular intervals. The cans were then left outside, again regularly sprayed with salt solution.

At the end of the test each can was examined for signs of corrosion. Particular attention was paid to welds and rivets. The fewer the blobs, the worse they were.
